Upskilling Trainings in Semiconductor Chip Design & Verification (Pilot Project)

The Upskilling Trainings in Semiconductor Chip Design & Verification (Pilot Program) is a specialized initiative launched under the collaboration of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST). The program is designed to train a select group of engineering graduates in advanced semiconductor design and verification skills.

At the core of the program are Semiconductor Education & Research Clusters (SERCs), to be established across three regions. These clusters will modernize curricula, strengthen faculty development, and produce job‑ready graduates in chip design. Complementing this effort, Up‑Skilling Training Programs (USTPs) will provide practical, industry‑aligned training to already graduated engineers, covering foundation, specialized, and expert levels in semiconductor design and verification.
At present, 54 graduates are being trained with more than 50% of their training completed.

Key Objectives

Train engineering graduates in semiconductor chip design and verification.

Build a pool of industry-ready professionals for Pakistan’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Enable universities with advanced design tools and support research clusters for innovation and competitiveness.

Strengthen academia–industry collaboration in semiconductor R&D through joint projects, mentorship, and knowledge exchange.

Provide a model for scaling up national-level semiconductor training initiatives and building a sustainable talent pipeline.
